More survivors come forward in David Tudor case
By David Greenwood
David Greenwood , Head of Switalskis Child Abuse Compensation department, represents a woman who, as a pupil at St Bede’s School in Redhill in 1984, was subjected to repeated sexual abuse by David Tudor. At the time, Tudor was the vicar at St Philip’s Church in Reigate. She was just fifteen years old; he was twenty-nine.

It is now clear that Tudor targeted teenage girls, using his position of authority to gain their trust for his own sexual purposes. Despite this, he was initially only suspended from the ministry before later being permitted to work as a priest within the Church of England.
David Greenwood says:
“Tudor’s actions were a gross breach of trust and have caused lasting harm to many girls, now women. They deserve redress.”
A Bishop’s Disciplinary Tribunal for the Diocese of Southwark has now upheld a further complaint against Tudor under the Clergy Discipline Measure 2003. This complaint concerns the serious sexual abuse of a 15-year-old during his time as a priest in the Diocese of Southwark in the 1980s. The Tribunal hearing took place on 19 November 2025 and has been adjourned to allow for representations on penalty. The full judgement will be published on the Church of England website in the coming weeks.
Tudor was already prohibited from ministry for life in October 2024, following a separate Bishop’s Disciplinary Tribunal which upheld complaints from two other women after he admitted serious sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old.
Surrey Police have now opened an investigation into Tudor.
