Further victims come forward

The investigation, led by Wiltshire Police, was launched following reports of abuse during army enlistment medicals. It has since expanded to include the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between the 1970s and 2016, at multiple locations across the UK. Those coming forward include serving and former personnel, as well as individuals who did not go on to join the armed forces.

Veterans minister Louise Sandher-Jones described the scale of the response as “deeply disturbing” and praised the courage of those who have come forward. Police have confirmed each report will be assessed carefully and treated with sensitivity and urge anyone with relevant information to contact investigators.

The investigation, known as Operation Pianora, is supported by the Ministry of Defence and the defence serious crime command. Police believe there may be multiple alleged perpetrators, although no details have been released.
