Medical negligence experts at Switalskis have welcomed a government decision to appoint senior midwife Donna Ockenden to the role of chair for the forthcoming inquiry into maternity care at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust – but say the inquiry needs to start urgently for all those families who have been affected by failings in their care.
Capacity issues, depleted services, poor inter-team relationships, racism and bullying were just some of the findings released by Baroness Amos in her Interim Report as part of the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation, which is examining 12 NHS Trusts and their maternity services.
