John has over 43 years’ experience in the legal sector. He is Joint Head of the Personal Injury department.

John is an experienced personal injury and clinical negligence solicitor with particular expertise in:
John was elected to the APIL Executive Committee in 2005, was the APIL President from 2009 to 2010, re-elected to the Executive Committee in 2012, became APIL Secretary in 2016 and re-elected as APIL President in 2022.
He is also a member of the Forum of Complex Injury Solicitors, the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association, the Law Management Section of the Law Society, the South Yorkshire Medico-Legal Society and the Solicitors’ Association of Higher Court Advocates.
John was a member of the Civil Procedure Rule Committee from 2019 and has been on the Law Society Civil Justice Committee from 2020, becoming Chair of that committee in 2023.
He is the author of ‘Model Letters for Personal Injury Lawyers’ and the ‘APIL Guide to Personal Injury Claims Procedure’. He is also a contributor to the APIL Guide to Clinical Negligence, the APIL Personal Injury Law, Practice and Precedents and the 5th and 6th Editions of Medical Negligence by Michael Jones.
John is also the Deputy Case Digest Editor, and on the editorial board, of the Journal of Personal Injury Law (published by Thomson Reuters).
