Three brothers have been found guilty of non-recent child sex offences in Barrow and Leeds following a lengthy trial at Preston Crown Court.

David Fish, now 47, has been convicted as part of Operation Stovewood and has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to two sexual offences and being convicted of rape, unlawful wounding and causing or inciting child prostitution.

Aftab Hussain, now aged 45, was given an eight-year sentence in addition to the 24 years that he received in 2019 for similar offences in Rotherham.

Two former staff members lost their appeals against their convictions. Their legal team argued that some of their actions did not amount to ill treatment.

On Friday 13 September, Waleed Ali (42) was found guilty within hours of jurors beginning their deliberations in a trial at Sheffield Crown Court. He was sentenced immediately to 5 years in prison.

Further perpetrators of sexual abuse and exploitation of teenage girls in Rotherham have been dealt with by the courts.
