Rape Gang Inquiry - Survivors meet to share experiences and push for change
By David Greenwood
On 15 July 2025, David Greenwood, Director of the Child Abuse department at Switalskis, attended a powerful and emotional meeting of survivors connected to the Rape Gang Inquiry (RGA). The event brought together survivors from across England and Wales who bravely shared their stories of exploitation and the institutional failures that let them down when they most needed protection.
The meeting was a space for survivors to support one another, share lived experiences, and speak candidly about the changes they want to see — not only for themselves, but for future generations.
David Greenwood, director and solicitor in our child abuse compensation team says “The RGA is an opportunity for anyone affected by grooming gangs to give their story to an organisation dedicated to putting pressure on the government to improve rights for past victims. It will also hopefully also be a catalyst to ensure the recommendations of Alexis Jay’s IICSA report are fully implemented, so as a country we can prevent abuse rather than reacting after it’s already happened.”
David has worked with survivors of abuse for decades and has extensive experience representing individuals at national inquiries. His attendance at the meeting reflects Switalskis’ deep commitment to listening to survivors, standing alongside them, and fighting for justice and meaningful reform.
The event followed the growing momentum behind the Rape Gang Inquiry campaign, which is being driven by a passionate group of survivors and supporters through a Crowdfunder initiative. You can learn more about the campaign and support its work here .
