If you suffered poor treatment in a residential Institution in Northern Ireland between 1922 and 1995 you can claim compensation through this new scheme.

The NI Redress Board was established on 31 March 2020 and will process applications and make awards of compensation. If a member of your close family was in an institution but has since died you may still be eligible to lodge a claim.

Applications must be made through solicitors and the team here, Paul Durkin, Amy Clowrey, Helen Hughes, Rob Casey and David Greenwood have many years of experience of dealing sensitively and effectively with institutional redress schemes. We have worked on the Republic’s Redress scheme, the Lambeth, Jersey and Medomsley schemes, so you are in safe hands.

Your legal costs are covered by the government so you will keep all your award.

Applications will be considered by paper determination by a three person panel consisting of a judicial member and two non-judicial members from a health and social care background. The judicial member will chair the panel.

We will need to go through some details with you (over the phone due to the covid-19 lockdown) but will do this with care and understanding in your own time.

If you or a member of your family would like to apply contact us using the form. All contact will be treated confidentially.
