Man jailed for 32 years following the testimony of seven girls, described by Judge as showing ‘incredible bravery and immeasurable courage’
By Alice Ewart
On Thursday 11th June 2026, Bawan Hawre was found guilty of child sexual exploitation offences following a four-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court. The second defendant, Sharam Muhamadi, was also found guilty of multiple modern slavery offences.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how the men used fakes names in their encounters with the girls and initially made contact with them via snapchat, offering to give them vapes.
The two men would then arrange to pick the girls up from Barnsley and take them to Doncaster where they were abused. The Court heard how the girls were given alcohol and drugs, after which six of the victims were raped by Hawre.
The investigation began in 2024, following one victim’s bravery in disclosing the abuse to the police. Six further girls were then identified as victims.
During the sentencing, some of the victim’s personal statements were read aloud, detailing how the horrific abuse has effected their lives.
Her Honour Judge Sarah Wright commented on the victim’s testimonies, noting that ‘Throughout the whole investigation and subsequent court proceedings, the girls have shown incredible strength…The courage and resilience they have shown is admirable and is ultimately what secured these convictions’.
Bawan Hawre, 28, was sentenced to the following:
- Six counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view of exploitation
- Two counts of rape of a girl under 13
- Four counts of rape of a girl aged 13/14/15
- Two counts of adult meeting a girl under 16 years of age following grooming
- Two counts of false imprisonment
- Three counts of possession indecent images
Sharam Muhamadi, 21, is due to be sentenced at a later date.
