A trial has started at Sheffield Crown Court against two men, Bawan Harwe, 28, and Sharam Muhamadi, 21, accused of grooming and sexually abusing seven girls in Doncaster. Prosector Claire Holmes said that all seven of the girls were given money and drugs and were intimidated into doing what the men wanted.

The alleged offences took place between June and August 2024 against girls between the ages of 12 and 15.

Harwe faces six counts of rape and ten other charges including false imprisonment, all of which he denies. The court heard Harwe had previously pleaded guilty to one count of rape of a girl under 13.

Muhamadi is charged with two counts of rape and three counts of facilitating travel for exploitation. He also denies these charges.

Harwe and Muhamadi lived together at one point and the prosecution said that Harwe “made available” some of the girls to Muhamadi. On one occasion, it is alleged two of the girls were driven to where the Harwe and Muhamadi were living and were both raped by the men at this address.

The jury heard that, on another occasion, Harwe raped two 14-year old girls at his address after giving them alcohol. One of the girls was passed out from drinking whilst Harwe raped her and the other girl tried to push him off.  Jurors were told that Harwe would not let them leave the property until he had sex with the girl who had passed out.

The four-week trial continues.
