The article, titled “Our children are still being targeted by grooming gangs, parents warn”, explores the disturbing reality that child sexual exploitation (CSE) continues in towns such as Rotherham, despite years of scrutiny, national attention, and multiple inquiries.

The article explores the persistent failures in safeguarding that allowed organised networks of child sexual exploitation to continue across parts of the UK. It highlights the deep-rooted institutional and cultural issues that prevented victims from being believed or protected.

Amy has spent almost a decade supporting survivors of grooming and exploitation, particularly in Rotherham, and continues to advocate for those who feel let down by the authorities. In her contribution to the piece, Amy highlighted the continuing mistrust that survivors and families have in the system, explaining that her team still receives calls from people reporting ongoing abuse – often after feeling unheard by the police or other services.

In the article Amy highlights the long-term impact of abuse on survivors and the need for meaningful accountability. She stresses the importance of listening to survivors and learning from past failures to protect future generations, sharing that “Just because we’ve had some convictions, it doesn’t mean that CSE has stopped”.
