Historic child abuse claims

For expert help with abuse claims

Bristol child sex abuse

At Switalskis, we represent survivors of child sexual exploitation in Bristol, helping victims and their families seek justice and compensation for historic abuse.

In 2014, a major case revealed how groups of men groomed vulnerable girls in Bristol, exploiting them with alcohol, cigarettes and gifts before coercing them into sexual activity. Survivors described being abused in hotels, parks and other locations across the city.

What Happened in Bristol

The Bristol child sex abuse ring involved 13 men of Somali descent who committed serious sexual offences against underage teenage girls.

In November 2014, they were convicted of crimes including rape, paying a child for sex, causing or inciting child prostitution, sexual activity with children and sex trafficking. The offences highlighted how organised groups targeted vulnerable girls and manipulated them into sexual exploitation.

Ongoing Concerns

Although convictions were secured, the impact on survivors is lifelong. The Bristol case demonstrated the serious harm caused by grooming gangs and the importance of strong safeguarding systems to prevent such abuse from happening again.
