Witness Appeal: Deborah Franklin

Switalskis’ are appealing for witnesses following the recent conviction of Deborah Franklin who was a teacher at a preparatory school in Hertfordshire.
Deborah Franklin who is now 65 years old continued to work as a teacher at the school for decades until the recent criminal investigation.
Deborah Franklin sexually abused our client in 1990’s beginning when he was just 9 years old. At the time, she was in her thirties.
Deborah Franklin was convicted at St Albans Crown Court for eight counts of gross indecency in July 2026 and was sentenced on 1st October 2026 to 7 years imprisonment. His Honour Judge Choudhry said her offending involved a “profound abuse of Trust”.
We are appealing for any witnesses who may be able to assist with our client’s claim or who suffered similar experiences whilst at the school.
Franklin groomed our client to believe they were in a relationship, to prevent disclosure. The culture at the time of the abuse was not to speak out, especially against those in a position of trust which prevented our client from disclosing for decades.
