A man has admitted drugging and raping his wife without her knowledge, over a period of 20 years.

The man, who cannot be named to protect his wife’s anonymity, has admitted 60 offences against his wife; including rape and administering a substance with intent. The offending took place over a period going back to 2004.

Twelve other men deny offences against the same woman and are due to stand trial in the coming weeks. A thirteenth man has previously admitted sexual offences against the woman.

Sadly, this report mirrors that of the shockingly sad case of Gisele Pelicot which hit the headlines in 2024 when she waived her right to anonymity to disclose that her husband who she had been in a relationship with for nearly 50 years had drugged and raped her for almost a decade. He also invited other men he met over the internet to assault his wife whilst she remained unconscious.

In July 2026, the National Crime Agency reported that they had identified over 270 people around the world linked to forums where footage of co-ordinated sexual abuse was shared online which echoed the case of Gisele Pelicot above. This resulted in 8 arrests in the UK.

CNN also reported findings of an ‘Online Rape Academy’ where forums discussed the use of sedatives, sexual assault images and tips to avoid detection. The indication was that such sites were being visited by millions of individuals.

The above raises the stark reality that people are unknowingly being sexually assaulted whilst believing they are in the safety of their own home with their partner.
