Further Sentence for Sageer Hussain After New Rape Conviction
By Amy Clowrey, Joe Swan
Sageer Hussain, previously described as the ringleader of a Rotherham grooming gang, has been given an additional three-year prison sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl between 2000 and 2002. This will run consecutively to his existing 19-year sentence for a “campaign of violent rape” against another victim.

The latest conviction came after officers from the National Crime Agency’s Operation Stovewood contacted the victim, who bravely reported the abuse decades later. Hussain lured her into an alleyway and told her she could not leave unless she had sex with him.
At Switalskis, we have represented multiple women who were victims of Sageer Hussain and his brothers: Arshid, Basharat and Bannaras. The brothers’ offending not only highlights the horrific abuse suffered by survivors but also the systemic failures that allowed it to continue unchecked for so long.
