EXPERIENCE
Clare has developed an interest in ophthalmology cases after appearing in an episode of the BBC series ‘Northern Justice’ with a client for whom she acted in a visual loss claim.
Clare secured a capitalised settlement worth over £24 million for a child who suffered four-limb dystonic as a result of negligent care during their birth.
After achieving a full admission of liability, Clare and her team worked tirelessly to quantify the claim and to prepare for trial, focusing on the claimant’s significant and long-term care and accommodation needs.
Just weeks before trial, a settlement was successfully reached following a round table meeting with the opponent. The terms of the agreed settlement included a £6.55 million lump sum plus stepped periodical payments to support the claimant throughout her life.
Clare commented: “While no settlement can undo the harm caused, this outcome will help the claimant access the care, support, and housing adaptations they need to live as fully and independently as possible”.

For many people, news of a healthcare review is unsettling.
