A landmark Court of Appeal ruling has quashed the conviction of Peter Sullivan - the UK’s longest serving victim of a miscarriage of justice - following a two decade-long campaign led by law firm Switalskis.

Our child abuse compensation team have recently represented Fiona, a survivor of child sexual exploitation and grooming in West Yorkshire. Her case forms part of a broader pattern of abuse that targeted vulnerable children in Keighley during the 1990s.

Five retired Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers have been arrested on suspicion of raping a vulnerable teenage girl in the 1960s.

Our client, referred to as YZ, was involved in child sexual exploitation and grooming in Rotherham. Her sister was also murdered in an honour killing making this particular case incredibly sensitive and harrowing and our client very vulnerable.

Switalskis solicitor Sarah Myatt appeared on ITV Granada News on 16 April 2025, commenting on the case of Peter Sullivan, whose conviction is due to be reviewed by the Court of Appeal next month.

This is the case of AB, who was involved in child sexual exploitation and grooming in Rotherham, from approximately 11 years of age.  

It's estimated that over 3,000 children could have been conceived from rape in 2021, in England and Wales.
