Sam has over 25 years’ experience in serious injury litigation. He is a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer and APIL-accredited senior litigator, accolades earned from advising in complex brain injury cases and advocating for families navigating the impact of life-changing injuries.

In his new role, Sam will lead the brain injury team , which now comprises six specialists. He will support team development, oversee complex case strategy and strengthen relationships with rehabilitation professionals, healthcare providers and others nationally to make sure every client gets access to the best multidisciplinary support possible.

In his new role, Sam will be joining the newly enhanced serious injury leadership team which consists of: Mark Hollinghurst , Managing Director of Serious and Brain Injury; Katrina Elsey , Director and Serious Injury Manager; and John McQuater , Technical Director and Solicitor Advocate.

John McQuater’s role as technical director is a further development within the team. John’s new role will allow him to provide the team with in-house expertise on complex and highly technical litigation due to his vast experience in advising clients on serious injury. As a solicitor advocate John can represent clients in the higher courts, meaning clients whose cases proceed to the higher courts have much needed consistency in their legal representation.

The new structure reflects Switalskis continued focus on supporting people with complex and catastrophic injury and reinforces the firms commitment to client care, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Sam McFadyen says: “This is an exciting opportunity and I’m incredibly proud to lead a team with such depth of expertise and commitment. Our focus is always on doing what is right for clients and their families at what is often the most challenging time in their lives.

“Brain injury cases require a truly holistic approach. Early rehabilitation, coordinated support, and securing the right financial arrangements can make a huge difference to recovery, independence and family life. I aim to build on our strong foundations and ensure we continue to deliver the highest standards of care and expertise while further establishing Switalskis as a leading firm for serious brain injury work nationally.”

Mark Hollinghurst, Managing Director of Serious and Brain Injury at Switalskis, says, “Our serious injury team has grown significantly in recent years, in size, expertise and in the complexity of the work we handle. Sam’s well-earned promotion and the new structure reflect that momentum and ensures we continue to evolve as a modern, specialist team that is recognised nationally for the quality of its work. We’re committed to providing an exceptional, specialist service to clients who have unfortunately suffered life-changing injuries and deliver them the best outcomes."
