NUH chief executive officer makes public apology

Anthony May, chief executive officer of Nottingham University Hospital, has given a public apology to the families that have suffered at the hands of the maternity services at the Trust.
During his interview with ITV news on 21 October 2022, Anthony May confirmed that maternity services is his top priority having implemented a maternity improvement programme and engaging in the Ockenden review that began on 1 September 2022.
Anthony May has confirmed that he is looking at the issues that are attributed to the failings of maternity services and is now spending time in an attempt to rectify them. He states that this includes recruiting more staff, reviewing current hospital policies and implementing more training to staff employed at the Trust.
Anthony May’s apology is the first step to be taken. We act for so many families who have suffered as a result of poor maternity care. Babies have died or been brain damaged, parents have suffered trauma and mothers have suffered obstetric injury. The families that have suffered having received care at Nottingham University Hospital, need someone to take accountability for what they have suffered.
