Two men have been sentenced for a series of sexual offences committed against three teenage girls in Leeds, following an investigation by Leeds District Safeguarding Unit.

Delroy Scott, aged 59, of St Alban Crescent, Leeds, received a 12 year sentence, while Yusuf Egberongbe, aged 67, of Shakespeare Lawn, Leeds, was sentenced to 5 years.  The trial took place at Leeds Crown Court.

The offences involved grooming, sexual assault, and rape. The victims were targeted while still children and subjected to sustained abuse. The investigation revealed how the perpetrators exploited the girls’ vulnerabilities, offering them lifts and giving them alcohol, drugs and cash to gain influence and control over them.

This case is yet another reminder of the devastating impact of child sexual exploitation and the importance of holding perpetrators to account. It also highlights the need for continued vigilance and support for survivors, many of whom face significant barriers when coming forward.

At Switalskis, we regularly represent survivors who were failed by the systems meant to protect them. We see how abuse is often enabled by missed opportunities, poor communication between agencies, and a lack of understanding of the signs of exploitation. These failures can leave survivors feeling isolated and unheard.

We are committed to supporting survivors with compassion, specialist legal expertise , and a deep understanding of the long-term impact abuse can have. Justice is possible, and survivors deserve to be believed and supported every step of the way.

If you’ve been affected by abuse and need support, The Survivors Trust offers a free, confidential helpline for anyone aged 16 and over. You can call 0808 801 0818 or text 07860 022 956 . Visit thesurvivorstrust.org/our-helpline for full details.
