Switalskis Care team expands drop-in legal advice to Halifax Women’s Centre
By Rifat Shahid
Following the successful launch of our community-based advice clinics across West Yorkshire, Switalskis child care team is pleased to announce a new series of drop-in sessions at Halifax Women’s Centre.

These clinics build on our ongoing commitment to improving access to legal support for vulnerable individuals, offering free, confidential advice in a safe and supportive environment.
Taking place every three weeks on a Wednesday, the next session will be held on 20th May.
Supporting those affected by domestic abuse
The new drop-in clinics will focus specifically on supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse , providing clear, practical legal guidance at a time when it is often needed most.
The sessions are designed to remove barriers to accessing legal advice, ensuring that those in need can speak to a solicitor in a welcoming and informal setting. Delivered independently by our team, the sessions extend our reach into supporting new communities through tailored advice from a specialist child care and domestic abuse team.
Expert legal advice when it matters most
The clinics will be led by child care solicitor, Rifat Shahid , who has experience supporting individuals facing complex and sensitive issues.
Rifat commented: “Access to early legal advice can make a significant difference for those experiencing domestic abuse. These clinics are about providing a safe space where individuals can understand their rights, explore their options, and take the first step towards securing protection and support.”
Making legal support more accessible
Our drop-in clinics, also held in Ravensthorpe on the last Thursday of every month, were created to provide and accessible route to legal advice without the need for appointments, helping people address issues at an early stage.
This expansion into Halifax reflects our continued focus on community-based support and early intervention, ensuring that legal guidance is available to those who may otherwise struggle to access it.
By working directly within local support centres, we aim to meet people where they are, offering reassurance, clarity and practical next steps in a safe, confidential setting.
The drop-in clinics take place at Halifax Women’s Centre every three weeks on a Wednesday, with the next session taking place on 20th May.
