Children’s Mental Health Week (6-12 February) is run by @place2be, a children’s mental health charity, who aim to provide in-school emotional support and resources for children and young people to improve emotional wellbeing and mental health.

One in six children in England now has a probable mental health condition. This can impact on their learning and development. With early intervention, @place2be aim to provide a range of therapeutic services to assist and support children throughout their education and into adolescence, thus reducing the impact and improving mental health in adulthood.

At Switalskis, we represent many children who have suffered an avoidable life changing brain injury and struggle with their mental health. Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities are more vulnerable and likely to experience poor mental health as a result of their injuries. As a result, they require access to a therapies and resources to assist them in their learning environment and to support their mental health and well-being throughout childhood. We work with children, their families and support networks, including schools to ensure that they have adequate support in a variety of educational settings.

This year’s theme for @place2be is ‘Let’s Connect’. This is to highlight the value of meaningful and healthy connections, to support wellbeing and mental health.

Place2Be rely on the generosity and support of the community to continue their essential work.

A head injury can change your life in an instant. While they vary in severity, even a relatively minor head injury can lead to ongoing or long-term effects. If you were injured in an accident that wasn't your fault, you may be entitled to compensation that can address any physical and financial costs related to your injury, and the way head injuries are classified can influence the level of compensation you may be entitled to. Learning more about the different types of head injuries can also enable you to seek the medical care you need.
