Charges brought in Rochdale Child Sexual Exploitation case
By Sally Smith
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that three men from Rochdale have been charged with a series of offences relating to alleged child sexual exploitation (CSE) dating back to 2008 and 2009.
According to police, the charges relate to alleged offences against one victim, who was aged 13-15 at the time of the first assault. Naveed Anwar, 41, and Mohammed Abdul-Sami, 44, have each been charged with offences involving a girl aged 13–15 and a woman aged 16 or over. Both have been bailed to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 19 March 2026.
A third man, Dilwar Ali, 45, faces two counts involving a girl aged 13–15 and one count of assault by penetration. He has been bailed to appear before the same court on 18 March 2026.
The investigation has been led by Greater Manchester Police’s specialist Child Sexual Exploitation Major Investigation Team, which focuses on complex cases of grooming and sexual exploitation.
Supporting survivors of CSE
Cases like this highlight the lasting impact of grooming and exploitation on survivors and their families. Many of the incidents now being investigated across the UK relate to abuse that took place years or even decades ago, often within communities where victims felt silenced or afraid to come forward.
At Switalskis, we represent survivors of child sexual exploitation in Rochdale and across the country. Our team has worked on landmark cases that have helped to shape the legal landscape for survivors, challenging time limits, and securing justice against both individuals and institutions that failed in their duty to protect.
We understand how difficult it can be to take the first step in speaking about what happened. Survivors are never alone in that process — we are here to listen, provide clear legal advice, and help you move towards justice and recovery.
