We asked Amy:
Q: What attracted you to this area of work?
A: Back in 2014, before I joined Switalskis, I came to the firm as part of my training contract to work in their specialist Child Care Law department. It was during this time that I saw first-hand the detrimental effect sexual abuse has on a child’s development and on into their adult life. As a result, I decided that I wanted to specialise in this niche area of litigation, to help victims of child abuse.
Q: What aspect of this area of law do you find most interesting?
A: Many victims of child abuse understandably suffer with their mental health. I enjoy watching my clients’ health improve through therapy and treatment which they have been able to arrange as part of their civil action – it’s really positive to see.
Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: A personal, professional and friendly service.
Q: What are your interests outside of work?
A: Outside of work Amy is on the Executive Committee of the Junior Lawyers Division of England and Wales (JLD), Sponsorship Officer for Leeds JLD and a member of the Huddersfield Law Society Twinning with Uganda committee. Amy also sits on the Civil Professional Engagement Group which reviews reforms to the civil courts and is a member of Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL).
