Heather specialises in mental health law advising those detained under the Mental Health Act.

She advises clients on:

• Hospital manager’s hearings
• Tribunals
• Treatment in hospital
• Role of nearest relative
• Section 117 aftercare

She also represents those who are in the community subject to a community order. She is qualified to represent at tribunals.

Heather advises and assists on applications to the county court to displace a nearest relative, representing both patients and nearest relatives.

Heather is a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme.

Heather’s approach is both professional and approachable in her conduct of cases. She listens carefully to the client, understanding their case and what they would like to achieve if possible. Heather advises in a very measured but realistic way to support a client who often has been removed from their family and home in very difficult circumstances.
