The Switalskis team is celebrating after hearing today that two of our specialist departments have been shortlisted for Yorkshire Legal Awards! Partner, Sarah Cookson, who leads the Conveyancing department, is a finalist in the Residential Property category, whilst Partner, David Greenwood’s Child Abuse Law team is in the running for the Dispute Resolution award.
The Yorkshire Legal Awards (formerly the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards) celebrate the best of Yorkshire’s legal talent and Switalskis has been recognised several times before – winning Firm of the Year titles in 2006, 2008 and 2012. Our Managing Partner, John Durkan, was also a highly commended finalist in 2013.
Sarah Cookson was nominated for the Residential Property Award for her outstanding achievement in developing a thriving conveyancing practice, as well as her dedication to her clients. Sarah is also dedicated to making a difference in the community and has worked with colleagues to raise funds for a range of local charities. On August 1st, Yorkshire Day, Sarah and the rest of the Dewsbury office team will be hosting a tea party for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
David Greenwood and the Child Abuse Law team received their nomination for their outstanding and continuing contributions in their specialist field. These range from working to change the law for the benefit of victims of abuse, to campaigning on victims’ behalf, to ensuring that the issues they and their clients deal with on a daily basis receive appropriate attention from the media. The team is the current Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Team of the Year.
Since the Yorkshire Legal Awards began in 2000, Switalskis Solicitors has transformed. Fourteen years ago, Switalskis had just one office, and two areas of practice. Now, we provide expert legal advice and representation to individuals, families and businesses from nine Yorkshire locations, as well as offering a range of services nationally. One thing has not changed though – Switalskis remains a proud Yorkshire firm!
We’d like to wish the very best of luck to all the Yorkshire Legal Awards finalists. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Leeds in October.
