Alex Guy will be a speaker in this year’s breakout sessions at Switalskis’ Eleventh Annual Review of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on October 10th. Alex will be speaking on Removal of Financial Deputy.
Alex Guy joined Switalskis Solicitors in Sheffield in December 2016. Alex has specialised in Court of Protection (Property and Affairs) for several years, and is renowned for his expertise in this challenging field. A significant proportion of Alex’s caseload consists of brain injury and birth injury clients, together with elderly clients who either have no family to assist them in their later years or who have been financially abused and protection and recovery of assets is required.
Alex was appointed as a Court of Protection Panel Deputy in April 2011 and again in 2015. Selected by the Office of the Public Guardian, Panel Deputies have been assessed to have the particular skills and expertise needed to act on behalf of a person who is lacking mental capacity where no one else is willing or able to do so, for example, where a suitable family member cannot be found or where there has been financial abuse. He is one of only 71 Professional Deputies on the Court of Protection’s approved Panel; specifically 1 of 4 in Yorkshire.
