Megan joined Switalskis in September 2017, initially as a Paralegal in our Medical Negligence department at our Huddersfield office. Here she assisted with a range of medical negligence claims, from the initial enquiry stage and provided essential support to lawyers to ensure the smooth running of cases. Megan then became a Trainee Solicitor in January 2020, joining our Child Abuse Compensation team as part of her training contract.

More about Megan

We asked Megan:

Q: What is your specialist area of work?
A: I have worked on various different types of Clinical Negligence cases – each day varies and brings with it new and exciting challenges.

Overall, my workload focuses mainly on birth injury cases affecting both parents and baby. These are often emotional and sensitive cases which include psychiatric claims. I pride myself on the fact that I am always approachable, warm and friendly.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: I love every aspect of the work that I carry out and the high level of client contact that Clinical Negligence claims bring. I feel very privileged that I am able to assist our clients in achieving a positive outcome for their future.

Clinical Negligence claims are interesting as they require a high level of legal and medical knowledge. I like that I am constantly learning new medical terms and I enjoy the challenges that working on a variety of cases brings.

Q: What are your interests outside of work?
A: I enjoy taking part in fundraising activities and I have recently participated in a 5k run around Scammonden Reservoir to raise money for Huddersfield Mission. I also love traveling, especially around European cities.

Relevant to my role, I am a member of the Leeds and District Medico Legal Society who present talks throughout the year to lawyers and doctors. I am also a member of the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Incorporated Law Society.
