Lorrette is a specialist child care solicitor advocate with over 30 years’ experience of representing children and their families. She has a Higher Rights (Civil proceedings) qualification which enables her to appear in all family courts including the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Lorrette has helped to develop one of the largest teams of specialist solicitors who represent children and families across the whole Yorkshire region.  She heads up Switalskis' North Yorkshire child care team.

Lorrette undertakes her own advocacy and specialises in representing children and parents across all family courts including highly complex cases in the areas of:

  • Care proceedings
  • Adoption
  • Private Law Children Act appointments on behalf of the child/children
  • Separate representation of children considered to have capacity to instruct independently
  • Human Rights Act

Lorrette has a Higher Rights of Audience qualification, she is also a Law Society Children’s Panel member.

Lorrette’s level of knowledge and experience enable her to provide expert advice and representation to her clients and to ensure that their interests are properly represented. She approaches her clients in a compassionate manner appreciating that involvement in court proceedings involving children is highly stressful.  Lorrette inspires confidence by providing clear and consistent advice and continuity of representation throughout proceedings.

Lorrette has ensured through her recruitment and training that she is part of a highly specialised team of solicitor advocates who provide high quality levels of service.
