More about Joel

We asked Joel:

Q: What do you enjoy about your role?

A: I enjoy that the role can be a challenging one. The clients we work with in the Court of Protection department are especially vulnerable as they are adults who have been deemed to lack capacity to make their own decisions in regards to various areas such as where they should live and the support and care that they need. However, they still express a wish to challenge their placement and it is rewarding to support them through the proceedings and give them a voice.

Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: Due to dealing with vulnerable clients, there is a need to be sensitive whilst carrying out my duties I am also in communication with family members of our clients, who may be completely unaware of the proceedings. I support them in gaining an understanding of the process and the purpose of the proceedings and ensure that everything is explained.
