As you will be aware, Monday 29th August is a UK Bank Holiday. As such, all staff will effectively be on leave on that date but a number of emergency helplines will continue to provide urgent advice where required. Our offices will also be closed for a further day on Tuesday 30th August as we take time out to remember a dear colleague and friend we lost three years ago.
‘Richard’s Day’ – 30th August 2022
Three years ago, shortly after returning from the August Bank Holiday, we were devastated to receive the news that Richard Shore – our IT & Operations Director – had passed away suddenly. Richard played a crucial role in the growth of our business, but more importantly had become just as much a friend as a colleague for many of us in the business.
We took the decision that we should do something significant to honour Richard’s memory each year. Having discussed this with colleagues we decided that the Tuesday after August Bank Holiday would now be known as ‘Richard’s Day’. This is a time for all staff to take time out to reflect on their memories not only of Richard but also of anyone else they choose to remember that they have lost.
Closing the business and all offices will obviously cause some disruption to our clients and other professionals but I’m sure everyone will now understand why we decided to take this step. We feel taking this decision appropriately reflects our gratitude for Richard’s service to Switalskis and is a permanent gesture, such that for years to come even new staff will be made aware of Richard and the massive contribution he made to Switalskis.
