We have succeeded in securing a life changing settlement for one of our clients, Greg.
Greg sustained a brain injury four days after his birth due to hospital staff failing to notice that he was struggling to feed properly. His very low blood sugar caused a seizure which resulted in a serious brain injury. Because of this, Greg suffered from very severe and uncontrolled epilepsy and a permanent neurological disability.
Greg and his family have put part of his settlement towards designing and building a home which is tailored to support him, ensuring that he can live as full a life as possible. Greg was involved throughout process, increasing his confidence and self-esteem, and the project has been truly life changing in broadening his horizons and social circle.
Suzanne has come to know Greg and his family very well. Commenting on how Greg has progressed since she first met him, Suzanne said: “Greg is such a cheerful and happy person these days. He is very aware of his epilepsy and before I met him, he had become very withdrawn and isolated due to his seizures and the fear of having them when out with his family. The change in Greg since we began working with the family has been incredible and a joy to witness. I am so proud to have been able to assist with his case and to make a real difference to his quality of life.”
Greg and his family are featured in our new video in which they talk about their journey. In the video, you can also see some of the incredible adaptations to Greg’s home, including very high ceilings due to his 6’4’’ height, and a specialised bath which, as well as being very long, cannot overheat or overflow. Specialist lighting also has been installed to minimise the risk of falls.
Greg loves being outside with his parents and the new property allows him to enjoy this as much as possible. He loves collecting things and one of his passions is riding his various lawnmowers, helping in the garden and working with his dad in the workshop.
The change in Greg could not have been possible without his settlement and Suzanne and her team are absolutely thrilled to have been able to support Greg and his family. They will continue to do so for years to come as Suzanne Munroe and Samantha Spain continue to jointly act as Professional Deputies for Greg.
