This week is Family Mediation Week and mediators across the country are raising awareness of mediation and its benefits for separating families.
Organised by the Family Mediators Association, this year Family Mediation Week focuses on minimising the potentially harmful effect of relationship breakdown upon children. It aims to encourage separating couples to think about family mediation as a way of helping them take control, make decisions together and build a positive future for their family.
Family mediation service providers will be putting on special events and offering advice and information free of charge. Over the week you can expect to hear interviews with mediators on your local radio. They will be discussing matters such as how mediation can help separated parents to talk to each other and how to organise family separation to minimise the distress to the children. You can also look out for articles appearing in your local newspaper about such subjects as how the voice of the child can be heard and how parents can focus on the needs and interests of their children.
Switalskis Mediation Service will be providing a free seminar for legal professionals on how mediation is changing.
