Brain Injury specialist solicitor Ewan Bain – based at our Doncaster office – will be running the Sheffield 10k in aid of the charity Support Dogs.
The event takes place on 22nd September 2019 and by his own admission, it’s been a while since Ewan last ran for a suitable cause.
The Support Dogs charity has been known to Switalskis for some time, with a number of fundraising events being held at our Doncaster office in the last year. They help provide independence and improve quality of life for people with a number of different medical conditions.
Most people are familiar with the way that guide dogs can help the blind, but many are surprised to know that dogs can also provide the following help:
- Autism assistance dogs for children with autism. The dogs are trained to provide safety for the child and reduce stress in social environments.
- Seizure alert dogs for people with epilepsy. Thw dogs are trained to provide a 100% reliable, up to 50 minute warning prior to the onset of an epileptic seizure. This enables the client to find safety and be in control over their seizure, allowing a much more independent life.
- Disability assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities. The client’s own pet dog is trained to perform tasks which are specifically tailored to their individual needs; providing them with greater independence and safety.
Ewan was inspired to support this excellent charity as his own brother suffers with epilepsy and would’ve benefited greatly from this support in his younger days when his condition was less controlled than it is now.
You can find out more about Ewan’s reasons for running, or even make a donation on his fundraising page.
