Sarah joined Switalskis in January 2005, after studying at York College of Law, and qualified as a solicitor in January 2008. She is experienced in mental health and criminal defence work, and has worked with many clients detained in prison. She is also an Accredited Police Station Representative and Court Duty Solicitor.

We asked Sarah:

Q: What do you do in your role at Switalskis?
A: I work within the Mental Health Law Department, where we advise and represent people who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. I am also a Duty Solicitor undertaking Criminal Defence work in the Magistrates Court and Police Station.

Q: What do you enjoy about your job?
A: I love the varied nature of the work – I work with people who are detained in a range of settings. It’s rewarding when we can help a client who has made progress in hospital to move back into the community.

Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: A professional, calm, efficient service along with practical advice.

Q: What do your clients like about you?
A: That I am always honest with my advice and give a true assessment of my clients’ cases.
