Ruth is an Associate Solicitor in our Medical Negligence department.
A member of Switalskis Medical Negligence team since 2013, Ruth Heathcote joined the legal profession in 2009 and has specialised in medical negligence since 2011. In June 2017, Ruth gained accreditation with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), recognising the in-depth knowledge and experience she has developed in this complex area of law.
Ruth is based in Huddersfield but assists clients with clinical negligence cases across the Yorkshire region and beyond. As a Medical Negligence Solicitor Ruth runs her own caseload of claimant matters, as well as assisting senior solicitors with large and complex cases.
We asked Ruth:
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I have acted for both claimants and defendants. My experience on the defendant side has taught me the skills to be able to predict and rebut the other side’s arguments, which at times could make or break a case.
Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: Humility, integrity, patience and clarity.
Q: What drew you to your specialism?
A: Clinical negligence cases are often very difficult and complex, this means clinical negligence solicitors have to be able to look at evidence carefully and make precise, informed decisions. I like to help people find answers and I like a challenge.
Q: Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
A: Qualifying as a solicitor, which was the result of 6 years of hard work.
