Buying a brand new home is a unique conveyancing transaction. Conveyancing Solicitor Richard Wisnia and his new-build team are equipped to deal with the tight timescales associated with New Build purchases and will look after you every step of the way.

Richard joined the Conveyancing Department at Switalskis Solicitors in September 2014, establishing the firm’s New Build department. Richard has more than 13 years’ experience working as a lawyer in Yorkshire.

We asked Richard:

What does your role involve?
Acting for the buyers of new homes from housebuilders whilst managing the firm’s New Build Conveyancing Department.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Buying a house is one of the biggest things a person can do, and buying a brand new property is a unique process. Being able to help them to do that in a way which is straightforward and as stress-free as possible within tight timeframes is very challenging but highly rewarding.

What can clients expect from you?
My clients can (and should always) expect:-

  • to be looked after by a genuine expert in the field
  • a first-rate personal legal service backed by advice which is both easy to understand and free from jargon

The positive feedback I have from my clients is that my approach does not conform to the image of the “old school” solicitor, which I take as a compliment. I am pro-active and understand that buying and selling of property often requires co-operation, not conflict, between the parties to get results.

What did you want to do when you were at school?
Professional footballer for Leeds United, and famous rock star. It’s not too late, is it?

Tell us about your proudest achievements.
I am incredibly proud of my academic achievements which taught me, if nothing else, the true value of dedication and hard work (Richard achieved a First Class degree studying Government with Law at Birmingham City University in 1998 and then went on to attain a Master of Laws (Distinction) at Leeds University in 2000.)In the working world, I am proud to have established a professional identity and reputation for myself in an overheated and very challenging marketplace.

What are you interests outside of work?
Football. Football. Football.I am an avid Leeds United fan, a Level 1 FA Qualified Coach and (joint) manager of my son’s under 7s team.
