Richard qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1991 and joined Switalskis in July 2007. Richard has specialised in Family law for the last 11 years, and has worked in the Pontefract area for the last 21 years.At Switalskis Richard continues to specialise in divorce, along with disputes relating to children and finances arising out of divorce or separation.

Q: What do you do in your role at Switalskis?
A: Advise and represent clients in Divorce, disputes regarding children, finances, also Domestic violence injunctions including occupation orders. Also disputes relating to property owned by unmarried couples

Q: What do you love about your job?
A: Helping people through what is one of the most stressful things in life

Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: Realistic advice, and effective representation throughout their case

Q: What do your clients like about you?
A: My down to earth approach

Q: What is your specialist area of work?
A: Financial matters connected with Divorce

Q: What drew you to your specialism?
A: An interest in figures

Q: How long have you worked in your specialism?
A: Since 1996

Q: What did you want to do when you were a child?
A: To be an Engineer

Q: Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
A: Driving to 7th overall on the Manx national rally in 1997, and overtaking current WRC driver Jari Latlava on a rally stage

Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I navigate in a rally car, also  drive a steam locomotive on a preserved steam railway

Q: Do you have any sporting interests? Which teams do you support?
A: I follow F1, just on the TV at present

Q: Are you active in any organisations outside of work?
A: I am a member of my local motor club and also Peak Rail in Derbyshire

Q: Please list any other interests/favourite things – do you have a favourite book, band, singer or composer, work of art or place to visit, etc?
A: I like walking in Derbyshire, and stopping for liquid refreshments!
