Melanie Brown is based in Huddersfield
Melanie Brown qualified as a solicitor in 2001. She joined the Switalskis team in 2012 following our merger with Parker Bird Gardner Solicitors. Melanie specialises in Child Care Law and Family Law, providing legal assistance to families and individuals on a wide range of issues including divorce and relationship breakdown, domestic abuse and child care arrangements.
We asked Melanie:
Q: What do you do in your role at Switalskis?
A: As a Family Law Solicitor, I assist clients to resolve issues arising from divorce including child and financial arrangements.
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: Attending court and seeing people change and grow as a result of the assistance we can give them.
Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: Friendly, efficient service from someone who will go the extra mile to assist. I always deal with cases in a professional manner whilst still being able to empathise and relate to my clients problems.
Q: What drew you to your specialism?
A: I went to university as a single parent having previously worked as a nursery nurse. I wanted to continue to work with families in a legal role.
Q: Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
A: Qualifying as a Solicitor and working with people who have really moved forward in their lives throughout the process of their case.
Q: What are you interests outside of work?
A: I enjoy art and literature, I try to visit galleries wherever we travel and I belong to two book groups, as well as reading along with Radio 4 book club. I run a book group at Mixenden Library in Halifax on a voluntary basis every 4/5 weeks.
