We asked Lucy:
Q: Why did you choose to specialise in Clinical Negligence?
A: I chose to focus on Clinical Negligence because there is the opportunity to build relationships with my clients; we can often be working together for many years.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: Working with clients to get the answers that they deserve and cannot get elsewhere, helping them to move on from what is often a distressing situation. I find that it is important to find a balance between explaining the law, understanding the medicine and being a good listener.
Q: What aspect of this area of law do find most interesting?
A: Reading and interpreting medical reports and then explaining the report’s findings to my clients in a way they can understand it, ensuring all of their questions about their treatment have been answered.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I enjoy netball but I always injure myself – I cannot play regularly after dislocating my knee! I enjoy running (whenever I get chance!) and walking my dog, Elsie. I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy baking cakes, particularly brownies.
