Faisa Okundaye is a Paralegal in the Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) team based in Huddersfield.
Faisa Okundaye joined Switalskis in January 2019 as part of the Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) team. Faisa’s role involves meeting with clients, attending court hearings and liaising with various professionals to ensure that the client’s best interests are the focus at all times.
We asked Faisa:
Q: Why did you choose to work in your specialist area?
A: Court of Protection Health & Welfare appeals to me because I feel like the work I put in has a real effect on our clients’ lives. Whether that means helping my clients get the living conditions they need, or helping them understand their rights.
Q: What do you find most interesting about this area?
A: Helping my clients to understand their Human Rights and what steps we can take to secure these rights. A lot of the time I interact with vulnerable clients and being able to assure them that they have a voice worth listening to, and that I can help them to be heard, is very rewarding.
Q: What are your interests outside work?
A: The only thing I love more than cooking is probably eating! A favourite pastime is getting my friends and family together and having them try the new creations I make in the kitchen. When I’m not cooking, I enjoy making short films and supporting Chelsea FC.
