Charlotte Bettney is a Solicitor in the Mental Health Law department. Charlotte is based in Wakefield.
Charlotte joined Switalskis in 2010 after completing her LLB, gaining a 1st class honours degree.
She gained accreditation with the Law Society’s Mental Health Tribunal panel in July 2014, demonstrating that she has the high level of knowledge and skill required by the panel to provide advocacy at the Mental Health Tribunal.
We asked Charlotte:
Q: What do you do in your role at Switalskis?
A: Advise and assist clients in Mental Health Law matters and provide representation at Hospital Managers Hearings and Tribunals. As a Mental Health Law advisor, I provide ongoing assistance to clients, keeping them informed about the progression of their case.
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: Variety from day-to-day; every case is different and I often travel to different hospitals to visit clients.
Q: What can clients expect from you?
A: Honest and clear advice delivered in professional, yet friendly manner. I will always work hard for my clients.
Q: What do your clients like about you?
A: I’m always available to answer a query, or will ensure they get a call back at the first available opportunity. I try to make clients feel at ease, particularly within a hospital environment.
Q: Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
A: Completing my degree and obtaining a Training Contract at a time when opportunities were particularly difficult to come by.
Q: What are your interests outside of work?
A: I love travelling, especially around the east and west coast of America, with San Francisco being a particular favourite. I like going to the theatre and to concerts (especially Take That who I have seen too many times to count!). I also enjoy swimming.
