Abigail Duffy is a Solicitor in the Child Care Law team.
Abigail Duffy joined Switalskis Solicitors in June 2017. She is based at Switalskis Sheffield office but provides advice to families across Yorkshire.
As a Child Care Law Solicitor, she has a wealth of experience representing parents, relatives and other carers in child care proceedings. Before moving into private practice Abigail spent many years working as a Local Authority solicitor which has provided her with a sound insight and working knowledge of Local Authority processes and procedures. She is also a member of the Law Society’s Children Law panel which means that her knowledge and skill in representing families in Child Care Law cases has been rigorously and independently assessed.
Abigail provides sensitive and practical advice on a wide range of matters relating to child care law, and has a deep understanding of the processes involved when social services intervene with a family.
We asked Abigail:
What can clients expect from you?
They can expect honesty, dedication and commitment. I apply a realistic and pragmatic approach to all cases and I am not afraid to fight on my client’s behalf.
What aspect of Child Care Law do find most interesting?
That I can genuinely make a difference in someone’s life. I also like that I often need to think ‘outside the box’ to get the best outcome for my client.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
No two cases are the same and I am constantly learning. I also enjoy helping vulnerable people who may not otherwise have a voice in the family justice system.
Tell us about some of your leisure interests
I have a young daughter and an overactive Lakeland Terrier that keep me busy outside of work hours. As a Southerner living ‘up North’ I enjoy exploring Yorkshire with my family at weekends.
