Our firm’s history
Switalskis was founded in 1993 by the late Stephen Switalski, with the aim of providing high quality advice and representation in two areas of law: child care and criminal proceedings. Back then, we had just one office, in Wakefield, but over the years Switalskis has become one of the Yorkshire region’s largest legal firms, with excellent quality advice and service at its heart. Switalskis is now a forward-looking firm with 22 Directors, and around 250 staff. We have brought together some of the region’s most experienced legal experts, to provide high quality service across all our areas of legal expertise, as well as legal training. In 2012, Switalskis achieved two of the Law Society’s most sought-after accreditations: Lexcel, the Law Society’s quality mark, and Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation.
We believe in playing a role in the communities we serve. That’s why the Switalskis team regularly supports charitable projects in the Yorkshire region and beyond.
Fundraising in 2017
Throughout 2017, staff at Switalskis Solicitors will be supporting Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) by taking part in a range of exciting fundraising activities. CHSF is an award-winning charity based in Leeds, raising money for the Leeds Congenital Heart service, which serves the whole of Yorkshire, the Humber and North Lincolnshire. Our fundraising efforts will help support the charity’s “Keeping The Beat” Appeal, which aims to raise £500,000 towards a revolutionary children’s heart theatre. Find out more.
Community Foundation for Wakefield District
Switalskis has also contributed to an Acorn Fund managed by the Community Foundation for Wakefield. Through government matched funding, we are building a sizeable fund that will support projects across West Yorkshire. Switalskis has recently been able to use the fund to provide support to the Calderdale Flood Relief Appeal, helping households and local organisations rebuild following the devastating winter floods.
The SRA, our regulator, requires all law firms to carry out a diversity data survey with Staff and Directors. As well as reporting the data to the SRA, we are required to publish the data. If you would like to see the results of 2015’s survey, please click here.
