Recent years have seen hundreds of men and women throughout the country convicted of offences relating to the grooming and sexual exploitation of children. This Wednesday (15 August) saw a further 31 people charged in relation to such offences in Huddersfield. Of those charged, 28 are from Huddersfield with others from Dewsbury, Shipley and Camden.

The 31 defendants are facing charges  relating to offences that occurred between 2005 and 2012, committed against women who were aged between 12 and 18-years-old at the time. The accused will appear at Kirklees Magistrates Court on 5 and 6 September.

Despite the grim headline, it is encouraging to see perpetrators being brought to justice for the terrible crimes committed against children. Crimes which result in life-long implications for the survivors.

Switalskis Solicitors represent a number of survivors of child sexual exploitation and grooming, most of which were failed by both the local authority and the police force. Our team has extensive experience helping those who have been affected by child abuse achieve justice.
