We are delighted to announce that Switalskis Solicitors has been awarded a three-year contract to provide a new Community Legal Advice Service for Wakefield District.
From 1st October 2010, Switalskis will be working in partnership with Wakefield District Citizens Advice Bureau to deliver the service, which will include specialist advice and representation in debt, housing, employment, welfare benefits, community care and family law.
The new service is jointly funded by the Legal Services Commission and Wakefield Council, and will provide a way for people across the District to access a wide range of information, advice and representation under one roof.
In addition to a centre in Wakefield, advice sessions will be held in Pontefract, Castleford and Hemsworth.
Hugh Barrett, Executive Director at the Legal Services Commission, said: "I'm delighted that Switalskis Solicitors and Wakefield CAB have won this contract. People in Wakefield who need legal advice will soon have a one-stop, high quality service so they can easily get the advice they need."
Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Communities and the Environment, Councillor Olivia Rowley said "A great deal of time and effort has been placed into helping ensure that this Legal Service will be run in the best way to offer Wakefield Citizens a quality service they deserve. I look forward to the service being available very soon so that citizens can receive both general and specialist help in one place rather than being referred on elsewhere."
John Durkan, Managing Partner of Switalskis Solicitors, said: "The service will provide convenient access to advice and legal representation at locations across the District, making it easier than ever for people to get help when they need it. Switalskis and Wakefield CAB are delighted to be working in partnership to deliver this exciting new service."
Preparations for the opening of the service are ongoing, and news of the October 1st opening will be posted on this website shortly.
