Switalskis is pleased to announce the expansion of its Halifax branch. The Halifax team now includes a specialist criminal defence team.

The new team of four includes experienced trial Solicitor, Bill Rawstron, and will handle all types of criminal work in the Calderdale area and beyond.  Bill has practised in and around Calderdale for many years and brings almost twenty years' experience to Switalskis, along with specialist expertise in handling serious crime cases.

Bill Rawstron, said: "It is great to be working with a forward-thinking and expanding firm. We are looking forward to making a real contribution to the growth and development of Switalskis"

Switalskis Partner and Head of Criminal Law, Rob Casey, said: "Bill's experience and expertise will enhance the already strong reputation of our crime team across West Yorkshire. We are delighted to have him and the rest of the Halifax team on board as we develop our criminal law department in order to meet future challenges".

This expansion of the firm's crime department follows Ministry of Justice proposals for the restructuring of criminal legal aid in England and Wales. The proposals, released in March, outline a plan to encourage expansion in criminal legal aid firms which could see the number of firms delivering publicly funded criminal law work significantly reduced by 2011.
