Almost fifty staff drawn from across Switalskis' six West Yorkshire offices will take part in Jane Tomlinson's Run for All on July 4th 2010. The Switalskis team will be the largest corporate team to enter this year's event, which will raise money for cancer and children's charities.
The idea to get involved came from Managing Partner, John Durkan, who initially planned to run the race as an individual entrant. In April, he contacted all the firm's staff to ask for volunteers to join him in getting fit and raising money for this excellent cause.
John Durkan said: "I was amazed by the response - I had hoped we might be able to field a team of ten, but within three days of my initial email, more than forty members of staff had signed up to take part - by the next week there were almost fifty!
"It is heartwarming to work with a team of people who are willing to give so generously of their time to raise money for such excellent causes."
The team has set a fundraising target of £2500, and over the next few weeks will be pulling out all the stops to raise money, by running mini-events and games that will involve all the firm's staff. Members of the team will also attend a World Cup Challenge table football event in Leeds on 30th June.
Collection boxes have been placed in all the firm's reception areas, enabling clients and other visitors to donate to the cause. The team has also set up a Justgiving page where online donations can be made.
