What will mediation involve?

Family mediation will usually involve you sitting down in an informal space with your ex-partner and a mediator who will act as an impartial third party. How the sessions proceed will depend on how the mediator has been trained, but generally, it will involve both sides expressing their views on a particular dispute and then being guided by the mediator in a constructive discussion which will aim to find possible solutions to the conflict. Once an agreement has been reached, the mediator will provide both sides with a document detailing the agreement.
