Family Mediation - Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most common questions clients ask our mediators

Click on any of the questions to find out more.

What are the benefits of mediation?

Is what we agree in mediation legally binding?

No, the aim of mediation is not to produce a legally binding agreement. However, this is often a good thing as it means mediation is less adversarial and confrontational.

If you and your ex-partner were to reach an agreement through mediation regarding financial or property matters and you wish that agreement to be legally binding, it can be made into a formal legal document by a solicitor.

What if my ex-partner goes back on the agreement?

What if I or my ex-partner gets upset or angry?

Will the mediator give legal advice?

What will mediation involve?

How much will it cost?
